Counseling can be a gift — a gift of peace, understanding, self-awareness, growth and most importantly self-love. Counseling can bring change to difficult life circumstances and can change feelings we may have lived with for most of our lives. As a counselor, I view my role simply as a facilitator providing empathic support to help others heal wounds, make sense of their world, find happier lives and remove unnecessary boundaries. I believe everyone is deserving of this gift and can achieve lives they long for. When people become stuck it is my role to help them engage in the process and adventure of self-awareness. This process can bring growth allowing the individual to engage the life they desire. I love being a counselor!

We all have the weight of the difficulties presented in our world over the past few years. Many of us have found coping mechanisms that previously worked but now these mechanisms are not able to mitigate the symptoms of anxiety and depression. With over 14 years of being in practice, I believe it is my role to provide a safe and compassionate space for each person that chooses to share their experience with me. My job is to help each person I see to explore past hurts, to put voice to feelings, and to help each person make meaning out of their life. It is my belief that many of us walk this world not fully allowing ourselves to come into our own, due to a fear of not being accepted and due to limiting beliefs given to us by others. I am here to help you heal your past traumas, the unhealthy attachments you experienced, and to build a future that is full of peace and ease.

I specialize in helping individuals who have struggled finding their voice and have had to deal with the grips of depression and anxiety. Many of us have had to deal with developmental trauma and have had to survive the environments we have grown-up in by surviving with the coping mechanisms that we learned as our younger selves that no longer quite fit in our changing lives. I will help you pull apart the pieces that never were yours and to find the ones that you want to keep. Sometimes so much of our mental heaviness is because it was never “safe” for us to fully advocate for ourselves and to be heard.

I have attended various training sessions by trauma and attachment experts such as: Irvin D. Yalom, Dr. Dan Siegel, Bessel Van Der Kolk, M.D., and Janina Fisher, PhD. Utilizing my education and years of experience I will work hard and go at the pace that is comfortable for you to help you feel heard and understand. I will also give you the education and the information, so you can also further this process in your own time. Together, the healing relationship we form will allow you to feel safe enough to be the person you discover in my counseling office, out in the world you operate in.

Healthy boundaries, relationships and communication can be hard to navigate in today’s world.  Feelings of doubt, anxiety, depression and/or trauma can influence our behaviors, emotions and mood.  If these, or other areas of concern are preventing you from reaching your full potential, counseling can be an empowering experience. We open our lives and our hearts to strangers in counseling.  It’s natural to want to find a person whom you can relate to and trust before beginning this journey.  I look forward to partnering with you during your time of discovery.  As an EMDR practitioner and LENS Neurofeedback provider, we can discuss how these integrated approaches may benefit you as a standalone treatment or in addition to talk therapy.

I believe that each person has a unique story. Our families, communities, and systems shape us, just as we influence those around us. With this understanding, I value a relational, client-centered approach to therapy.

My goal is to partner with clients to alleviate suffering and foster self-examination, meaning making, and change. I seek to help clients unlock more fulfilling lives by establishing an understanding of both present context and past relationships.

STACIE VIELE, MS, LPC

School: Missouri State University

As a therapist I hope to create a space in which clients feel comfortable to explore what is holding them back from living a life that feels fulfilling. I believe that it is possible to live a life of balance in which stress and distress feel like something to cope with rather than something that overwhelms or overshadows the possibilities in life. I want to support learning and discovery as well as an integration of this new awareness into life so that clients leave with both self-knowledge and empowerment to maintain change.

I work with clients of all ages that are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma and more and we search for understanding in those experiences and develop ways to cope.

My approach is “person-centered” – you will be in charge of how much we talk about and when we talk about it. I may guide you, asking questions, and bringing curiosity to certain situations but I will never push you to talk about something that feels like “too much”. We’ll ease our way in. I blend a mixture of somatic, attachment and cognitive methods based on what you, the client needs at that time. At times I may provide education about what’s happening within your brain/body or suggest a tool to use when at home. Always, we will work together to create a compassionate, accepting, non-judgemental space in which we focus on your needs – whatever they are at that time.

Finding a therapist you feel safe with isn’t easy – if you’re interested in speaking with me more, feel free to call and we can discuss your needs/answer any questions so that you can feel good about the decision you’re making.

LEA GANNAWAY, MS, LPC

Practicing Since: 2023
School: Missouri State University

I believe therapy should feel more like a real conversation than a formal job interview (and definitely less awkward than middle school). My approach is a mix of genuine connection, somatic and cognitive behavioral therapy, and a little humor—because let’s be honest, sometimes being able to laugh through the hard stuff makes it a little easier to carry.

I offer in-person, virtual, and nature-based therapy, which means we can chat in an office, over video, or while taking a peaceful walk outside (because sometimes big emotions need motion). I work with kids, teens, college students, young professionals, and adults navigating stress, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions, offering a space to process challenges with warmth and humor.

Therapy with me is a safe, open and supportive space where you can show up exactly as you are—messy thoughts, big feelings, and all. If you’re looking for a counselor who will listen, challenge unhelpful patterns, and remind you that you’re doing better than you think… we might be a good fit!

Let’s discover what suits you best—whether that’s sitting or walking, indoors or outdoors, or a mix of both. Reach out, and let’s figure it out together!

I believe life is meant to be fully and richly experienced, but sometimes there are big barriers such as painful experiences, difficult relationships, or challenging transitions that block us from living the life we want. I want each of my clients to find healing from the past, peace in the present, and freedom to pursue the future they desire. When we work together, you will find yourself in a safe, supportive relationship in which I will partner with you on your individual journey.

I use my background as an educator to help support individuals, couples, and families as they seek healing. As an EMDR-certified therapist, I use complex trauma and attachment-based methods to help support our innate ability to heal. For the past few years, I have had the privilege of working with many local first responder groups and their families. I, along with my 8-year-old rescue pup, Hank, use this experience and training to support people from all walks of life in healing from the painful effects of trauma and high-stress situations.
I know it can be daunting to find a therapist that is a good fit! When we work together, we will collaborate to create a plan that fits you, whether that includes EMDR or not, so that you can get back to living life on your terms!
Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. I offer in-person and virtual sessions as well as reduced fees for first responders and students.

I find people fascinating—each person is layered & unique. Therapy helps gently peel back those layers to uncover your personal power and inner strength. If you’re ready to deepen self-awareness, care for yourself in new ways, & move toward the life you want, I’d be honored to walk that path with you. I love working with motivated clients!

I am part of the National Board for Certified Counselors & am a facilitator for Prepare/Enrich – a premarital and marriage assessment. I have also been trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) & am a Certified Life Coach as well!
Common issues I have experience with include: ADHD, Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, OCD, Trauma & Stressor-Related Disorders, & Gender Dysphoria. I especially love working with: LGBTQIA+ folx, women’s issues, people who find themselves at a crossroads or life transition, highly sensitive people & empaths, those managing anxiety & depression, & individuals healing from damaging relationships that are working through codependency & people pleasing tendencies.

I offer virtual or in person sessions for adults, with occasional family or couples counseling (as/if needed) for my clients. I accept self-pay & am in network with UHC/UMR & Aetna insurance. If I’m not in network with your insurance, ask me for a Superbill & you could possibly get reimbursed depending on your out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services! I believe healing begins in a space where you feel seen, accepted, and supported. As a school counselor with over 13 years of experience in education, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside children, teens, and families through many of life’s challenges. Whether a student is facing anxiety, depression, grief, family changes, academic pressure, or navigating identity and self-esteem, I offer a compassionate, person-centered approach that meets them exactly where they are.

I especially enjoy working with kids and teens as they sort through big feelings, build coping strategies, and learn to trust themselves. I’m here for the students navigating friendship drama, family changes like divorce, bullying or cyberbullying, and the stress that school can bring. I also provide affirming support for LGBTQ+ youth as they explore their identity and self-expression.

In my work with families, I focus on strengthening connection, communication, and understanding. Parenting is hard work, and I consider it a privilege to support families as they walk through the ups and downs together.

Therapy does not have to feel stiff or clinical. It can be warm, honest, a little messy, and even full of laughter. My hope is to create a safe space where healing feels possible and growth feels doable.

Centered on you. Guided by compassion. Always.

What keeps you from living your best life? As we make our way through the seasons of our lives, it is inevitable that we encounter challenges that get in the way of our mental wellbeing and happiness. My goal as a counselor is to listen to your story and explore challenges you have experienced or are currently living. I will draw from evidence-based practices to work with you to identify your goals, your strengths, and your purpose. I will help you find strategies to address the obstacles getting in your way and to develop skills for coping with future difficulties.

With years of experience working as a teacher and school counselor, I have helped children find their way through loss, family changes, friendship concerns, and crisis. Practicing skills to identify emotions, regulate strong feelings, and manage conflicts prepared my students for future obstacles. I have worked with diverse student populations in schools in St. Louis and Springfield and was honored to be named the 2021 School Counselor of the Year by the Southwest Missouri School Counselor Association. My lived experiences, including parenting, chronic illness, loss, and caring for an aging parent, have shaped my work as a counselor and reinforced the belief of resilience and growth across the lifespan. We all need practices to support our well-being, and mine include hiking, gardening, reading books, and playing pickleball.
Though much of my counseling background has been supporting children, I accept clients of all ages. I strive to create a space where individuals feel comfortable sharing their stories, working through challenges, and building on the strengths they already carry within them. I would be honored to support you as you take the next steps on your journey.
